To adopt and implement revenue and development activities for the implementation of women's development policy in the light of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Poverty Alleviation Strategies (NSAPR) for the advancement and equality of women.
To coordinate government / private initiatives and activities for women's development through the Department of Women's Affairs under the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs.
Opportunities for women's self-employment are being created through vocational and practical training in women-friendly residential / non-residential training centers.
VGD Program: The largest social safety program of the Government of Bangladesh (Safety net program) for the development and sustainability of destitute and helpless and physically able women, women receive 30 kg of food grains and training every month for two years or 24 months. The total number of VGD beneficiaries is about 750,000.
Maternity Allowance Program for Poor Mothers: Maternity Allowance Program is being conducted for "Poor Mothers" with the aim of reducing poverty and infant mortality, increasing breastfeeding rate, and increasing nutritional intake during pregnancy. The number of beneficiaries is about 1,16,360.
Micro-credit activities for women's self-employment: Micro-credit is provided for the purpose of creating self-employment through the involvement of poor and poor women who have received various vocational training in productive activities.
Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Program: In 1989, with the aim of providing legal advice and assistance to women victims of violence, the Prevention of Violence Against Women program was started at the head office of the Department of Women's Affairs with 4 posts of 1 law officer. Committees were formed and various programs were taken to prevent violence against women and children. Committee for prevention of violence against women and children has also been formed at the union level.
One-Stop Crisis Center (OCC): One-Stop Crisis Center (OCC) has been set up at Faridpur Medical College Hospital along with Government Medical College Hospitals located in 8 divisional cities under a multi-sectoral program to prevent violence against women. The OCC provides medical assistance, legal assistance, police assistance, DNA testing, psychological counseling, shelter and community rehabilitation assistance to abused women and children.
National Helpline Center for Prevention of Violence against Women and Children: Provide immediate legal assistance to the helpline number 10921 through multisectoral activities to prevent violence against women. Anyone, including their family members, can get the necessary help by calling this number 24 hours from any mobile.
Volunteer Women's Association Registration, Regulation and Distribution of Grants: Annual grants are provided to the voluntary women's organizations including registration and supervision.
Income Generating Training for Poor Low Educated Unemployed Women (District Level): Vocational training is imparted in various trades based on local demand through WTC or Women's Training Center for self-employment of rural destitute women.
Job Investment Information Center: To provide employment related information to unemployed, educated, poorly educated or unskilled job seekers registered through employment, investment information center, to help them increase their skills and get priority.
Women Entrepreneur Development Efforts Jayita and Bakriya and Exhibition Center (Angana): Women Entrepreneur Development Efforts Jayita and Angana are being conducted with the help of marketing and marketing of products and services produced by women entrepreneurs and small organizations scattered across the country.
Lactating Mothers Assistance Program: Poor working mothers in urban areas and their children are being provided an allowance of Rs. 350 / - per month for 02 (two) years to improve the overall quality of life through the social safety net and for the benefit of working mothers.
Women's Hostels for Working Women: In order to provide safe accommodation to working women, 06 women's hostels are being run across the country.
Day Care Centers: Day care centers are being run in all the divisional cities including Dhaka for the children of working mothers.
Organizing clubs to empower adolescents for positive change in society: Adolescents run clubs to empower adolescents as active agents of social change in a supportive environment of family and society. Awareness raising activities are underway to prevent child marriage and sexual harassment. The number of beneficiaries is about 11360. The program is running through 369 clubs in all upazilas in 08 districts of 06 divisions.
Safe Housing Centers for Women, Children and Adolescents: In addition to safe shelters for women, children and adolescents, all types of physical and mental medical and legal aid services are provided.
E-Service Program: In order to bring all the activities of the Department of Women's Affairs under the e-service program and to implement the government's commitment to build a digital Bangladesh, a program called "E-Service Inclusion Program" has been taken up.
Jayita-Haluaghat: To strengthen the physical infrastructural development of the existing women's marketing center in Haluaghat Upazila Parishad of Mymensingh district and to strengthen the marketing system of their products by organizing through the association of women entrepreneurs of Haluaghat.
